Kamniski vrh

I've been seek and weak all week, got a cold, but as it is my last day of holliday, i decided i have to go to somewhere, so i went on a walk in mountains (on Kamniski vrh, Kamnisko-Savinjske Alpe). Although i sniffed all the way at the top, i felt so much better and stronger afterwards, much more fresh. I'm glad i went, although i didn't want to at the beggining.

Walking in mountains makes you feel better and healthier+the view from the top is awesome (you can see all the Ljubljana valley, nearby hills etc. from it).

Kamniski vrh is really a nice "pick" to go to-it's not easy, and not too hard. So, if you love mountainhiking, this is a good point to go to-worthy to see!

Floods in Zelezniki (Gorenjska)

Last week floods destroyed whole valley in Zelezniki. It destroyed houses, manufactures, churches, playgrounds and everything else that was low enough for the river to reach. Trees were everywhere, cars were carried away with flow-you name it, it was destroyed.
Here are some video clips, so you can get an image how it was:

Everything happened so quick, nobody expected it.
This weekend i joined others (with my friends, scouts) and helped cleaning up all the mess. Cars were smashed, crushed like a paper when you crumple a paper in your hands, trees were everywhere, mud was all over the place, some areas were covered in stones etc. We started by cleaning up playgrounds, which weren't recognisable at all at first (we could see an asphalt at the end of the day), then we moved on to help in a factory with "fine jobs" (aka cleaning windows, floor, rooms, brushed walls covered in mud, cleaned machines etc.), at people's homes, where there were loads of furniture, appliances (aka TV's etc.) and other stuff that belong in house burried in mud, so you had to dig it out of house. Bridges were destroyed, smelting furnace (cultural monument in Zelezniki) was deep in mud, you could see to where the water reached on a house front, destroyed objects were set up at the verge of the road ... There were many police, firerighters and army cars, who came to help too. People were nice and optimistic in spite of all the things that happened to them ...
All in all, I am glad i helped. It was a nice experience for me and i think it made us closer.

*May all the victims that died during the flood rest in peace!*

A story

I liked this story so much i had to post it here. Hope you liked it too! Think about it!

Don't judge too quick, think before you act!

A young lady was waiting for her flight in the boarding room of a big airport. As she would need to wait many hours, she decided to buy a book to spend her time. She also bought a packet of cookies.

She sat down in an armchair, in the VIP room of the airport, to rest and read in peace. Beside the armchair where the packet of cookies lay, a man sat down in the next seat, opened his magazine and started reading. When she took out the first cookie, the man took one also. She felt irritated but said nothing. She just tought: "What a nerve! If I was in the mood I would punch him for daring!"
For each cookie she took, the man took one too. This was infuriating her but she didn't want to cause a scene. When only one cookie remained, she thought: "Ah ... What this abusive man do now?" Then, the man, taking the last cookie, divided it into half, giving her one half. Ah! That was too much! She was much too angry now! In a huff, she took her book, her things and stormed to the boarding place.

When she sat down in her seat, inside the plane, she looked into her purse to take her eyeglasses, and, to her surprise, her packet of cookies was there, untouched, unopened! She felt so ashamed!! She realized that she was wrong ... She had forgotten that her cookies were kept in her purse. The man had divided his cookies with her, without feeling angered or bitter, while she had been very angry, thinking that she was dividing her cookies with him. And now there was no chance to explain herself ... nor to apologize.

There are 4 things that you cannot recover ...

The stone-after the throw!

The word-after it's said!

The occasion-after the loss!

The time-after it's gone!

Review of the last night's concert

"Cheers!!" And we drank a tumbler of brandy-so we won't hear the orchestra playing false notes, we said in laughter. And then we went to the Cankar's concert hall in Ljubljana ...

I sat in my golden annual subscription seat in 6th row-good seats, i'm satisfied with the view from it- and noticed, that seats besides me are empty. In a way, that's so unfair-that firms are buying seats for their employees and then they do not show up and leave other people waiting outside the hall withouth a ticket for the concert, eager to come in to listen to the concert.

So, i'm sitting in my chair, waiting for the concert to begin, instrumentalists begin coming in, some start playing-they're getting through tough places-this custom is not usuall, but ok. Then everybody stops playing, principal 1st violinist comes in and starts tuning. Silence. The conductor comes in and a big applause follows. He bows, turnes, prepares himself, looks at the orchestra and swings his hands ... Wow! The effect of first piece is strong-the energy comes into me ... This piece by B. Kos is dedicated to his wife. Throughout the piece composer plays with various effects with instruments-he experiments with sounds of violins (they are playing really high notes up and down the fingerboard whilst the harph and the xylophone have its own melody/oboes and clarinets take the lead melody by turns along etc.), he uses loads of different combinations of instruments (string instruments, windwoods etc. together in sections), temperaments (allegro, andante ...), dynamics (piano, forte ...) and divides his piece in smaller sections by these kind of elements. Every section, unique as it is, is then linked together and forms a wholesome piece. I liked how he plays with melodies and puts them together. This piece also worked on me, although it is called The Symphony, as a film music. It would be perfect as a sound ground for a movie. After the performance of the piece the composer came onto stage-when a man sitting besides me got up i realised near whom i sat-it was a composer himself! :) This piece would be also good to listen to when learning new stuff for school or reading etc., because it makes you calm and concentrated.
Afterwards they quickly started playing next piece by J. Pauer. They started playing so quickly i got startled, because i didn't expect them to start at all-didn't see the conductor start, bucase i was concertrating so hard on a composer who just sat down besides. At this point i remembered a few times when i sat besides famous or at least well known persons and didn't realise it! Funny me!
The second piece was a concert written for a horn solo and an orchestra. I liked the first part of the composition the best (allegro patetico), andante was beautifull too. The solist playing horn (B. Lipovsek) played really well throughout the piece, the tone he lured out of his instrument was precise, wholesome and beautifull, the execution of the piece from his side was awesome-great to listen to! He really performed music, not just notes!
The 3rd and the last piece of the concert was by G. Mahler, one of my best composers ever! They played Symphony no. 4 in G Major. The first two movements were really spactacular-great, soft, lyrical melodies. The second movement included a part for a violin uned a tone higher than usual, which gave the melody an unusual "shade" to it. In the thrid movements he uses loads of variations, nice melodies, but so long that i forgot to listen to music and started thinking of other things. After that followed a movement i waited for it most, where soprano sings a song from Des Knaben Wunderhorn called Das himmlische Leben or Heaven's Life. I expected much more from the soprano singer. She executed it just ok, but didn't impress me. She lacked volume in her voice, had bad diction-didn't realise she was singing in German after a minute or so etc. Othervise it was ok.
What i noticed in all three compositions is, that they all containted similar structure of instrument usage-they all had harph, loads of percussions, (piano) and similar combinations of instruments playing.

So ... I "survived" the first concert of the season and i must say i liked it, enjoyed a lot! The sound of the orchestra was profound and warm, i love the conductor (En Shao)-they way he conducts, entices out the sound from the orchestra and the way he approaches the audiance-with a big warm smile on his face!
There is also another thing fun to watch-instrumentalist in the orchestra! There are three instrumentalist in the orchestra who go to my year at the Academy School of Music (a horn, trumpet and contrabass player)-the orchestra itself is very colourfull with ages in it-it's good they give a chance younger players too. There are some small things you can't hold back to smile like when you notice a percussion instrumentalist singing along in a funny way to keep a beat or double bass instrumentalist making funny faces, violinist looking all serious all the time, even when everybody else smiles, a lead violinist (kapellmaister) wearing different coulours of socks, instrumentalists resembling looks of some well known composers (like Tchaikovsky ...) etc. Hehe-don't think i was bored because i noticed that kind of stuff-they are just things you can't miss to see.

Concert (dressing) code

Everything is quiet. And then the curtain opens ...
"The show" starts.

Imagine yourself sitting in a concert hall, listening to a concert you wanted to go to. It's all glamorous, even you dressed up for it, but there are few people sitting besides you. They smell unplesantly and are dressed like they just came from work. You think of two things: they didn't have time to dress up, because they hadn't got time or they just don't care how they look. Why is this important?

Maybe you're one of those people who don't care about that kind of concerts i'm talking about (solo instrument concerts, chamber, choir concerts, opera, ballet, theatrical plays and similar, musicals etc.-you could find many of them), but it doesn't matter, because all i want to state here is, that dressing up for that kind of "shows" is important. Why?! Because you show your relation, respect to it. If you dress up you show your culture-do you care about the show/performers or is this just one more thing you went to in your life-just something that's on your way. You don't have to dress in an expensive trademark dress-it's not about that, it's just dressing up in nicer clothes you have, so u're dressed dignified, that you show you care, that you respect the performer (or -s). This is also one chance you can wear nice clothes you usually can't wear, because there aren't that many opportunities to wear such clothes.

So, wearing "nice" clothes at/to concerts and shows indicates your relation to that particular concert-do you respect the performer, do you like their work etc. plus you can dress up in clothes you normally might not. And not just that, also the athmosphere changes-if everybody is dressed up and hardly waits to hear the concert, you feel like you're in an important and pleasant space, you feel more confident, as like you are a part of something big and important.

Radio

*silence*
But is this really silence?
No, it's not!

I'm driving in my car, just going home from practice. I played organ and found out that it's going to take loads of practice untill i'll master these compositions. I still have some trouble with notes themselves, but putting everything in one logical and wholesome piece isn't that easy. But i'll manage. A little bit of practice and it'll be ok. One hour for instrument practice isn't nothing. If you want your achievements to be visible, then you have to practice a lot. In one hour you hardly warm up for your practice ... So, i'm driving in my car without my radio turned on. Why not? Because i just gave it into a repair-it wasn't working properly (so much about technology!). It is raining cats and dogs, at first it seems like i'm driving in a silence, but then ... windscreen wipers are working fast, producing "squeaking" sounds, the back wiper producing low sounds, raing pouring in streams on the windscreen andthen i discover that there isn't silent at all!

I-o-i-o ...,
u-a-u-a ...,
um-kha, um-kha ...,
la-la-la-la la laaaaaa ...,
trara, ra ra ra ...,
um ts ts, um ts ts ...

Wow! I realise that this few separate sounds together sound like a piece of music. My heart starts singing and i join "him" (heart) along with a melody of my own. La la la ... And i'm home ... Oh ... I have to write what i just heard down on a piece of paper and turn it in a sheet notes! Did you hear it too?!

P.s. I'm posting a link of a Musicovery Radio here. Whatever your mood and genre of music is, it doesn't matter. You just pick the mood and genre and then listen to it! I wish you loads of musical joys!

Extincting animals

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6990095.stm

Before i saw and read this article i was talking with my friend about animals extincintg. We were discussing about freshwater/river dolphins extinction. And then we started making a list in our heads of already extincted animals (dodos, steller's sea cows, cave bears, saber tooth tigers, cave lions, mammoths, giant dragonflys, pterodactylus antiquus, dinosaurs ...) and then we discovered that we don't know that many. We know about some of them we learned in school, but generally, we didn't knew loads of them. If you check out a list of extincted animals and animals which are threatened into extinction you see, that this lists aren't that short, what is kindda sad. If you just think about poor small insects that have to do overtime flying near street lamps, because they are attracted to light at night-their life lenght is shortening because of that, becuase they are not used to fly that much, they don't have a proper rest because of it, they are doing extra hours. We don't hear crickets "sing their songs" that much anymore, we don't see a sea of frogs in the spring anymore, but only a few of them, we don't see does running freely that much around etc. It's because everything is changing.

We worry about things that matter to us. Some of them aren't even that important. We care about our comfort, which is important, but we should also be worried and care about things happening to others-like animals and our environment. Why? Because this environment we live in and these animals we live with matter. Why? Because they are part of this world, and this world we live in has its own plans, its own circle. And once a part of circle is broken, circle isn't perfect anymore and pefect circle can't function normal anymore once it's teared apart. This animals and plants that sorround us are a part of a process that our mother nature put together so it functions all-right. But, unfortunatelly, these days this circle is slowly (now a bit more quickly then before) falling apart, and once circle is not whole anymore everything is running into extinction. Why is it so important? Haven't animals extincted before, but we're still here?! Yes, we're still here, but everything is just a matter of time and left to human acts now. When balance is disturbed the whole life-circle is disturbed with it. For example: if one animal/plant extincts, then the other one wouldn't have enough food and would extinct too, or would start eating other animals/plants and then those ones would extinct eventually, if they can't reproduce themselves quick enough to survive and so everything starts collapsing and falling apart. Unfortunatelly, if it was just for this kind of matter it wouldn't be that bad, because that's a rule of stronger one to survive applying itself here, but it's not just about that. There's also another factor-humans and their needs with which we destroy our planet, that kept us alive for so long. If we pollute our environment so happily and quickly withouth thinking what we do, will we have anything to eat, to drink once we destroy everything? Ice is melting, climate is changing, animals are extincting, we're breeding animals so we can survive, we're putting our wastes everywhere we can (loads are even throwing them on the floor without any consciousness at all about what they've just done) ... Why can't some people see what's happening here?! That's what i've been wondering for so long. Everybody is trying to fit in (that is important all-right), forgetting alongside that other things matter in this times more. Thank God for people that are trying to save our planet, i say, but that's just not enough.

I think everyone should start right now and right here (at their place)! Start with small things in your area. If you see trash lying on floor, pick them up and give them into trash, try to use more public transports, drive with bike etc. Small things count! Don't say they don't, because they do! If everybody would say, it's just one small thing, it doesn't matter, then everything is going to be destroyed much sooner. Think of your ancestors, think for yourself, with your head! Think wise! Don't just look what's happening around you-ACT!

Interesting links

I'm posting here some interesting links ...

1. http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/units/addiction/drugs/mouse.cfm

On this site you can see the affects of different substances on mouses (you) if you take them. It's fun, interesting and educational!
All you have to do is to pick a mouse, put it on a chair and give it to the box where you examine it. Have fun!

2. http://fcmx.net/vec/get.swf?i=003702

It's interesting what one can do. I like how this artist plays with one drawing, changes it from bones into a picture of woman.

3. Do colours really reveal your personality?
http://vn247.net/flash/Color-and-Me.swf

Have you ever wondered how do colours reflect your personality, acts; what kind of person you are (i'm sure you know, but it's fun to look at it from the other, fun side too)? You can check out this site and see what does it say about you. All you have to do is to colour things with a virtual "brush" and then the dark, mysterious secret reveals itself ... Have fun!

4. What is really happening in offices ...
http://tlf.cx/office.swf

Have fun clicking on personnel and discovering what they're doing.

5. http://84.40.3.164/

I like this add because it's innovative, interesting and i like the way they combined choir singing with car sounds. Even if it wouldn't show car (although it gives an add a special charm when you see a car too and you compare the sounds) it would still be interesting to listen to a musical piece for itself. I like the idea from the musical perspective! Enjoy!

Tribute To Luciano Pavarotti!

Luciano Pavarotti, a great Italian opera singer who recently died. I loved his voice, his performance, his enthusiasm in music, the way he produced music ... in short-he was magnificant! I loved the interview he gave about how we should aproach music, the way he explained it and made it clearer and closer to me.
May he rest in peace. Now the heaven is filled with more music-another great voice joined it!
Interesting fact about him: He dreamed of becoming professional football goalkeeper. And then he started singing and look what became out of it. Sometimes u have to abandon your dreams and start new ones-they may be more suitable for u! :)

r u absorbed in internet world and u post loads of daring pics online, care about what other ppl might talk about your appearance and want to be popular?! if the answer to this question is YES, then u should be more carefull about what u're doing, because being likable and popular isn't everything! it's not just about how u look like, but also about how u represent yourself, what u've got inside. don't build your character based on a TV/movies/celebs styles and trends, but on your own oppinions, feelings-what u feel it suits u best, in what u feel comfortable. yes, internet is fun, u can meet loads of new ppl, but u can also meet loads of bad ppl, who just want to exploit u. what i want to say is-BE CAREFUL in what u do. acts count! don't follow the trends 100% (like: being skiny is ok, if u're not skiny and bold then u're not cool enough to hang out with me, because that just stupid to think like that-it's not u! if it is, u should overthink your acts. that kind of thinking is just low and indicates how "immoral", not cultured u r!)-u show your image to other ppl with your acts-they base their feelings and thoughts towards u based on what they see, and girls, believe me, boys don't like if u're showing yourself off too much (firstly they do, but once they've got what they wanted, they're off).

so, check this site out! if u're not carefull what u're posting and writing about online, u should be! don't talk to strangers, unless u're certain they're ok. 4 more tips, go on to this web site! B SMRT!

MY UPDATE

Haven't heard from me much lately?! So, this sorry belongs to all of u, to whom i didn't respond!

Where have i been then, u ask?!
I've done loads of things. Finished my school exams exceptionality well, practiced instruments, been to scout camps all over the country (were great), relaxed through walks in mountains, been to EUROPA CANTAT Seminar (was great-meet so many wonderfull ppl, learned a lot, conquered my stage fear (at least 92% of it, hehe) ... So many great things happened! Hope it's same with you, guys!

So, i'm going to post some of my thoughts here:

1. EUROPA CANTAT
Just came from the seminar in Ljubljana. At first, i was worried, and questions started to pop out of my head: "what if ...", but it went great and it was awsome!
I met some very wonderfull ppl there (from Czech R., Canada, Spain, Germany and other countries), had a great time, concerts and also learned some new things.
It's great to feel the music going through all of your body, that you can feel it like it's in you, a part of you and that you cannot live withouth it, that you can create it and feel good about it. I missed that feeling and am very happy, that i found it again ...

... music in me, 24/7 ... play it loud!

... i'm also gratefull for all that talked with me about music, about history of music and shared pro and contra conversations with me! (they'll know who they are)

2. THE AUDITION
... take a deep breath ...

... and here we go. you got number 31 (not a lucky number for me, but never mind, it's my lucky day today). fill in your name and other details and wait till you are called up. waiting, waiting ... then a man comes and starts telling funny jokes-it kindda relishes the stress in us ... and then we're up. girls are singing, most of them don't even sing in the right intonation, some are too quiet, two of them have a great voice, then it's my turn ... i start singing. i sing Blue mountain river (which i learned during our week in Ljubljana from Canadians-a very beautifull and melodical song i fell in love with the first time i heard it) ... argh, i forgot the lyrics-thank God he stopped me, now i have to sing the other song, which is the headline of the show i'm auditioning for. now i'm starting to enjoy it and ... it's over. that's it! over, finito, konec ...

well ... that was it. nothing special. i probably wont be picked, but it doesn't matter. what matter is, that i enjoyed it and i proved to myself that i can do it! and in front of all the cameras! yaaaay! go go ... music rocks!

4. MOVIES
Tribute to HAIRSPRAY. Loved it!
Hairspray-Grease ... well, Grease is my favourite musical ever. i've seen it loads of times and i never get bored of it. it has great music, contetns, scenes, clothes;) etc.

Hairspray on the other hand ... is quite similar to Grease. it's also a good movie. i liked it (i especially liked the cast), it was full of energy, music and filled with everything. good costumes, good script and story, good actors but i still miss sth. well, u can't compare it to Grease in a musical aspect ...

I like to compare the titles, though. Grease aka the slimy substance you put on your hair that it stands still and hairspray aka spray with which you can spray your head (hair) that it looks good afterwards. hehe. funny thing they picked out these two words for headlines of the movies.

In Grease there is music, songs that go into your ear and are easy to sing and to remember, so in that point i prefer Grease to Hairspray, although i enjoyed music from both movies.
But if i compare the two stories i would pick the story from the Hairspray over the one from the Grease. why? because it isn't just about a bunch of teenagers who are fighting with their inner-self and are seeking for the love of their lives, but it's also about a racial inequality-about how stupid ppl were (and there can be still found) back then and how incoherent all of that is. because it's not about how we look, but it's all about how beautiful and rich we're in our insides-are we good or bad ppl. that's what it's all about. so, Hairspray has a bigger meaning in that aspect, that's why i like it better!

All in all, it doesn't matter what's better in each movie, they are both good movies! i like them both and i hope they will do more movies like that.

Talking about musicals ... i also liked The Phantom of the Opera, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Mary Poppins, Singin' in the rain, The Wizard of Oz, Dreamgirls, High School musical, Bride&Prejudice, Beauty and the Beast, Idlewild ...

As in for the other movies with loads of music in it, i liked Music and Lyrics, The Pianist, Amadeus, Some like it hot, Walk the line, Almost Famous, Raise your voice, Pink Floyd: The Wall ...

So, that much about music in movies and about musicals. i haven't even started to talk about them, but if u like to talk about that kind of movies, you can write me and we'll talk about it:)

5. SPORTS, MOUNTAINS
... and off we go!

yeah ... i sooooo love to walk! today we went to Limbarska gora from where everything looks so amazing (u can see all the nearby hills around and all the mountains from the WN to the EN, all the small houses, everything is green around, and at the top of the hills u can notice small white churches)! especially at night, when u can see the lights from the highway and houses (everything seems so small from there, and u feel like the whole world is lying below u-especially when u're standing on the top of the mountain!). it's kindda tricky to get down then, but it's worth it. and what it's even best-my condition improved!

did u ever felt fresh and newly born when u climbed a mountain or when u did 30km with the bike? i know my advantures aren't as big as someone's elses might be, but they are good enough for me! if u do sth, it doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you're satisfied with what you did and feel like you have achieved sth! it's not about a quantity, but about a quality (especially of your feelings inside!)!
so, i'm glad i moved out of my house and went into a nature. i didn't do nothing special conected to my condition since tuesday when i went byking ...

p.s. if u don't like your body and u think u must do sth for yourself-u better do sth in that direction! do u think u can't? well, i'm sure u can!

p.s.2 i decided i'll post some pics from hills around my place on myspace and i'll write a short blog about it, so u'll know what are u going to look at.

6. EXERCISE-READING BOOKS
Exercise is good! Not only just for body, but also for brains!

Ha! I know that my statement is very random one, but ... from times to times i forget that exercise isn't that bad as it may seem sometimes when we're cranky and not in the mood ... Do u ever feel like that? And than u postpone it to the other time?! U say to yourself, i can do that tomorrow, i'm not in the mood today and it would be so much better if i did that other thing, i so don't feel like doing this ... hehe! Same goes with other things too! Like when u feel like eating and say: i won't eat anymore after this bite(especially at christmas time), i'll eat this much just this one more time and then i'll stop! And then we're trapped in a magical circle that never ends ...

Well, this week i've broken one of this circles- a circle of not doing sports and music as much i could do! I was going out to climb mountains and hills, but not as often as i could due to my lazyness. And i also postponed my school-musical work, because i was tired of my travels these past two months. Well, i'm glad i stopped being lazy and started being active. I just hope, i'll be stubborn enough not to stop. What do u think, will i make it? hehe Do u ever feel like that? If yes, than u should definately stop bad habits and start new, good ones!

P.s. I totally forgot to say sth about intelectual exercises ... If u're a tv/movie/internet fanatic than u should cut this "addiction" a bit and take time for other things-like books, walks and time for yourself and your friends. It's good to be educated and have loads of points of views on different subjects. So, from time to time it isn't that bad to read a good old book!

So, that's about it. Have fun reading it!
